Week 1: Home MTC
Hello everyone! My first week as a missionary is finished. Everyday this week has been 8 hours of class over zoom but honestly it was not as bad as it sounds. Obviously it wasn’t amazing but it was not bad. I got to know my district and they are awesome. It’s so cool to see kids just like me making the decision to serve the Lord. We all have no clue what’s in store for us but we know who we are working for and that is Christ. My companion is Elder Danielson. Elder Danielson is a very interesting kid that knows how to cast spells in Spanish and was the valedictorian in high school. I love him. We are completely opposite but opposites attract so I think we will make a great team. My district got to know me very well when I forgot to mute my mic during a break… i went and got a drink of water and said hi to my mom then on the way back to my computer I was singing at the top of my lungs. I sat down and everyone was laughing then i hear someone say “Elder Hobbs you have a beautiful voice” hahahah anyways that was a fun but embarrassing story that happened this week that my district still laughs about. I get discouraged about spanish but then realize I’ve only been learning Spanish for one week so I know I’ll get better and better each day.
During one of our classes is when we got the news that Elder Hollands wife past away. My teacher had the thought to say a prayer to comfort him. So we all got out of our chairs and knelt down to pray as a district. A kid in my district said a great prayer and we all felt the spirit. Even though all of us are scattered around the country it was a cool experience to all be apart of such a powerful prayer.
First week as a missionary has been a success. I fly to the Mexico MTC Tuesday morning. I’m excited to get to work and im excited for what’s to come. Thanks for all the prayers and support. God lives
