Week 11: The Streets

Hola family and friends. Great week here in Chile. Lot of progress with our investigators. I learned a lot this week but one thing more than the rest... missionary work in the street. Before my mission I always pictured myself teaching a family in a house with no distractions, everyone listening, and maybe a nice fire going haha. Although this is sometimes the case the reality is teaching people in the streets with every distraction in the world. This week we worked a lot in the streets. This doesn't just mean asking someone if they want to learn more. We always try to teach a doctrine quick. Even on our way to an investigators house or an appointment we would always teach people in the street. I hated it because it was super hard to feel the spirit and usually the people only had a few minutes to talk. I felt like I couldn't make a connection with the person and it was just a waste of time. Then during one of my personal studies, I was studying the life of Jesus Christ. I then realized that almost every time Christ taught, it was in the street. He was always preaching anywhere anytime. Almost all of his most powerful teachings were in the street or was when he was on the way somewhere and taught someone along the way. For example the women at the well. Jesus was on his way to Galilee but stopped at the well and taught many people of his doctrine. Ever since I have been praying extra hard to have the spirit with me always and to have power to teach in the streets. I've already seen an improvement and now I look forward to every encounter in the street.

We have been teaching a 10 year old named Maximo ever since I got to Chile. And this week we placed a baptismal date for him the 14 of October. I'm so excited for him and he is so ready. Him and his mom watched conference with us which was super cool.

General conference was also such a great experience. The stake had a live broadcast in a church house and projected it up on the wall. This was perfect for us because we brought a few of our investigators with us and we watched conference all together. Of course I didn't understand all of the talks because it was translated to Spanish but I felt the spirit the most I have any other conference. Probably cause this is the first conference I haven't napped through. The language barrier is hard but the spirit is stronger.

I'm looking forward to another week of preaching the good word to Chile. Send prayers. Love you all. God lives
