Week 44: Por Fin
After 3 months, about 100 lessons and with every type of opposition possible, our friend Pamela was baptized! I found her in my first week here in Tomé and have been teaching her ever since. It was a very special moment being able to see her be baptized. Baptism changes lives. I've seen way to much proof of it during my time out here. Pamela was catholic and was not planning on changing until we taught her about covenants that we make with our heavenly father. And yesterday she made her first. We are extremely blessed as members of the church of Jesus christ to have access and power these covenants. Pamela is already seeing and feeling a difference in her life.
Also in our ward we have baptized enough people that they just called and formed a Sunday school class for the recent converts. In my first counsel with the bishop here, he told us that having this class was a goal the ward has had for awhile. And finally just within 3 months we have achieved the goal! I'm excited to keep working and helping people be baptized. Also another one of our friends Charles has his baptism date coming up so pray for him! He is from Haiti so my companion has been able to teach him in Creole.
This week I had intercambios with Elder Macfarlane which was way too good. Two boys from Cache Valley down here preaching the gospel in Chile together. I got to interview his friends and make sure they were ready for their baptisms. And sure enough Elder Macfarlane taught them very well and they also were baptized this week. Hoping to be his companion one day.
That's all I have for the week. I love you and miss you all. Send me an update on life if u have time. The church is true. God lives
