Week 23: A White Christmas

Image
Merry Christmas everyone! Hope viejito pascuero brought you all some great gifts. I always imagined what Christmas would be like on the mission and now I finally know. And surprisingly it was a lot better than i thought it would be hahaha. I don't have too much time to write this but ill try to fit in all the highlights and experiences of this fun Christmas week.       To start, I ended up having a white Christmas after all. There is no better white than Gods children in baptismal clothes! The sister missionaries had a baptism and I had the opportunity to go and help Felipe and Andres with the ordinance. Always an amazing experience in the font.      We had the multi zone conference this week which was super fun. We did a little nativity and it was super fun to sing all the Christmas songs together Made me feel just at home haha. Throughout the week almost all of our lessons were focused on the birth of Jesus christ. Being a missio...

Week 22: Count Your Blessings

What's up friends and family. Hope everyone is doing well! I just barely hit 5 months in my mission. Super crazy. Almost 1/4 of the way done. It's nice time is flying but also at times its going too fast haha. Just trying to enjoy every minute I have with the plaque on.        Sunday this week was fun. Sunday morning while we were eating breakfast we got a call from our bishop telling us that the person that was going to give a talk canceled and couldn't come to church. Sooooo he asked one of us if we could talk. My comp looked at me and said no way I'm giving a talk with 30 minutes of preparation. Soooooo I took one for the team and gave a talk during sacrament meeting. I had a half page of notes and somehow manage to give a 7 minute talk. That's where I realized how much my Spanish has improved. The ward told me they loved it so I'm hoping it went alright hahaha.       Also had intercambios with the zone leaders this week. I...

Hey friends and family!! I hope everyone had a great week. Missing the snow and Christmas lights back home but the empenadas and street dogs are going to have to do this year hahaha.         Super great week here! We had 2 of our friends come to church with us this week which was a huge blessing. As of right now they both have baptismal dates for the 23 of December. They both have a long way to go and a lottttt of commandments to learn but I have faith they'll get baptized! It was the primary program at church this week so it was funny having to explain to our friends that we don't have kids lead the sacrament meeting every week haha.         Also there is a soccer team named Hauchipato and their stadium is in my area. And the other day they won the soccer championship of all Chile. Wow it was insane. The Streets were filled instantly with people throwing beer music blasting cars honking hahaha. It was fun to celebrate with th...

Buenos díasssss! Que tal amigos. Haha hope everyone is doing great. I miss you all. Super fun past few weeks here in Talcahuano. The work is non stop. Every week we grind, get a pday to rest then the grind starts all over. I love it. Elder Randall and I have been killing it lately. We are raising our weekly goals higher and higher and we keep seeing miracles. Little update on Ian quick. Every since he got baptized his family has changed so much. The first lesson we had after his baptism was such a cool experience. The entire vibe of his house felt different. His parents are so much happier and i can just tell every aspect of their lives are different. Just because a 10 year old Ian got baptized and received the holy ghost, his entire house and family completely changed for the better. Ian hasn't missed a sacrament meeting since.       Also i got to go to the temple this week and do an endowment session! I went with Elder Gonzalez from Mexico so it was...

Week 18: Bautismo De Ian

Buenasssss!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying some great food. Sadly, Thanksgiving isn't really a thing here butttt I still had a great week.           I had the oportunity to baptize Ian this week. It was a super awesome experience. Both of his inactive parents came to his baptism! Also one of the speakers at the baptism talked about how parents need to be raising their kids in the gospel. It is exactly what they needed to here. I'm hoping the entire family comes to church next week. The baptism was so great hahaha right after I baptized Ian he was telling me he didn't want to get out of the water and he started swimming around. But I finallyyyy drug him out.      The night before I baptized Ian we watched Christ's baptism together. Ian was excited for his baptism but after he watched the video he was excited on a whole other level. The spirit was unreal. After I explained that he is going to...

Week 17: Stake Conference

Image
Buenos días from Chile! Hello fam and friends. Super grateful I get to give you guys a little update about my life in Chile every week! Thanks for all the suport and emails it means a lot fr.       My ward had stake conference this week. So all the wards in Talcahuano got together and we got to listen from one of the 70 Elder Costa. Wow what an experience that was. It was super cool to be in a chapel halfway across the world filled with faithful members of gods church. The spirit I felt there is the same spirit I feel back in Idaho. Doesn't matter what language, what country I'm in, or who the people are around me. The reunion made me think about the gathering of Israel and how incredible its going to be when all of God's children are gathered together again. Also i got to have a little conversation with Elder Costa after the meeting!        The work is moving on. Every week we are finding new people, placing more baptism dates and h...
