Week 28: And He Went About Doing Good

Image
Hola hola amigos y familia! Had another great week in Chile! I think I've gotten to the point in the mission where all the weeks are great. Hope i didnt just jinx myself haha but let's get into it.     First of all the church announced the new youth theme of the year. It is "I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ". So during my studies this past week I've had that theme on my mind and what it means to me to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear disciple of Jesus christ is the apostle Peter. I have always loved Peter and the faithfulness that he showed to his Savior. I also can relate to Peter a lot. He had his struggles and mistakes but he always turned to his master, and in the end, died as a great follower and representative of Jesus Christ.      God has given us so many examples that we can follow. He has sent us amazing prophets and people to show us how we should live our lives as followers of Go...

Week 27: God's Church

Hello everyone! I hope you have all had a wonderful week. Can't believe it's already time to update you guys again. It's always a pleasure to be able to share my experiences with all of u. So let's get into it.          We had a super busy week! We had multi zone conference which was great. It's always a great experience listening to Presidente Hukdhs. I know he receives revelation from God to lead this mission in Chile Concepción. Can't even explain how much of a disciple this man is. We talked about how the best source to find people that are going to be baptized is through members. Changed my perspective a lot on my relationship with the members. We should include them on the work and explain to them missionary work is literally the most important work on the earth right now. So ever since then I've been a little more straight with the members. Hahaha I gotta tell them I'm not here in Chile to eat empenadas with them. I'm here to help peo...

Week 26: Pressing Forward

Muy buenas tardes familia!! I hit 6 months of being out this week which I can not believe. 1/4 of my mission is over. Unreal. Still have a lottt of work to do tho for the people here in Chile. I had a super great week here in Talcahuano with a lot of success. My comp and I are starting to see a lot of work pay off. To start, we are teaching una amiga named Angela. I have been teaching her off and on since I got here but never really saw much interest out of her. Then this past week when I received my new companion I sent her a text asking how is everything and if she has time for us to pass by and share a message. She said yes. And ever since then we have had a lesson with her almost every day. And she came to church with us on Sunday! She also brought her husband and baby to church with her!! I'm super excited to see where things go with her. I believe she could accept a baptism date here pretty soon. But I'm trusting in the Lords timing.      ...

Week 25: New Opportunity

What up everyone!! Love and miss you all bad. We got news of transfers this week and I got called as a trainer. Lots of thoughts and feelings came to my mind when I heard the news. I dont even have 6 months in the mission so i felt super incapable to train a new misionary. But after lots of prayers I realized that I am capable to train and looks like my president thinks the same. The flight of new missionaries got in Thursday morning so all of us trainers got there that afternoon to get our new comps.      Super crazy experience being in that same room, listening to the same presentation for new missionaries but this time i was sitting on the back row with the trainers. Feels like yesterday i was sitting in the front row. My companion is Elder Winlow! He is so great. He is from Quebec Canada and his first language is French. He speaks English too but one language he doesnt speak is spanish. Super crazy to be teaching someone that speaks French to speak Spanish...

Week 24: Feliz Año

Happy new year! I'm super hyped for 2024 and to spend every minute of it in Chile. I don't have time to write a letter today but I'll send some pics! I'll find out tonight if I get transferred or not so I'll let you all know what happens in my next letter.       Also Ian (the kid who we baptized awhile back) got a 3d printer pen for Christmas. The next lesson we had with him after Christmas he ran out of his room to show me what he made. He made a missionary tag that says Elder Ian. Crazy to think he didn't know a thing about Jesus christ a month ago and now he's wanting to serve a mission. I'll put a pic of it below. The church is so true. Happy new year. I love u all. God lives. -Elder  Hobbs
