Week 6: Final Week At The CCM

Image
¡Hola! (That means hello in Spanish). Just finished my final week here at the Mexico City Mtc. The past 5 weeks have been some of the best/hardest times of my life. I've fr changed so much and the mtc couldn't have done a better job of preparing me to be a missionary. The crazy thing is that my mission has only just begun. I received my flight plans the other day. I fly out of Mexico at 8:25 pm Thursday night. It is about a 9 hour flight to Sangiago where I have an 8 hour layover. Good thing the church is true or I would have some complaining to do haha. Then I have an hour and a half flight to Concepción where I will be saving souls for the next 23 months!      Spanish is coming along the best it can. Hopefully Chile is patient with me haha. My Spanish teacher has been telling me how much my Spanish has come in just the past week. I know it will come with time I just pray I have the courage to open my mouth and give it my best.      ...

Week 5: Almost Time

What up friends and family. Another week as a missionary is down! I have officially been a missionary for a month and 1 day which is crazy to me. Next week is my last full week here in the MTC. Mixed emotions for sure but getting to the field is gonna be great. Im super close to everyone here so it is gonna be tough to say goodbye to everyone. I should be getting my flight plans to Chile any day now. My district is starting to speak strictly in Spanish as much as we can everyday which is fun but frustrating at times. Our teacher makes us do a 5 minute wall sit for every time we speak i n English. My legs are gonna be jacked by the end of mtc hahaha.       Elder Lords left to the field this week so we said our final goodbyes. It was a sad but more of a happy moment cause we know a mission is what we need to be doing right now. It's gonna suck not seeing him at the Mtc but we are both way excited to get out there. This week the water to our house shut off so w...

Week 4: Leave Your Nets

Hola friends and family!               This week was definitely a roller coaster of emotions. Alright, now that I am better I feel like I can tell you all how my week actually was last week. I know in my email last week, i said not much happened but i was lying for the sake of my mom hahaha. Last week i got sooooo sick. Probably the sickest i have ever been in my life. A little sickness has been going around the mtc so when I started to feel no bueno i did not think anything of it. A day went by of a little cough and sore throat until i went to bed that night. I had the worst fever ever. I was shaking all night and probably got 30 minutes of sleep that night. That morning my companion forced me to go to the infermeria and get checked out. The doctor took one look at me and then gave me 3000 pills and meds i swear. He told me i could not go to class for the entire day cause i was so sick. I was super mad that i was going to miss class but i followe...

Week 3: El Templo

It blows my mind how fast time is going here. I cannot believe I made it to another pday already. This week was super chill for the most part. Days are getting pretty repetitive but i am learning so much. I have decided that i am just going to try my best with spanish and then let Heavenly Father do the rest. Just minutes ago i got off a bus that took us to the Mexico City Temple. It was such an amazing experience. I got to baptise and confirm in spanish. I was stressin about doing it all in spanish at first but then right when i started it felt super natural and easy. It was a huge confidence booster. It was awesome to feel the same spirit i feel back at my home temple despite the different language and culture. That is about all i have for this week. Dinner is in about 15 minutes and me and my companion love being first in line haha. I love and miss you all. Till next week. Elder Hobbs

Week 2: The Arrival

Image
What is up everyone! I finally made it to the Mexico CCM and it is everything I imagined it would be. I arrived at the MTC around 5pm on Tuesday and by the time we went through initiative and put our luggage into our house, we got to go to dinner. Dinner ends around 8:30 and we got there around 8:15. All the pizza was gone so my first supper was some nice fruit loops and a roll hahaha. Anyways, I love it here so far. The CCM is smack down in mexico city so I i fall to sleep to the sound of cars honking, loud speakers, and an occasional gun shot or two. I genuinely love my companion. He loves to study spanish and to follow the rules and i kinda like to study spanish and i kinda like to follow the rules. jk jk but fr tho we equal each other out. I bring out his fun crazy side and he brings out my serious focus up side. Our house has 26 elders in our house and my favorite part of the day is singing hyms in spanish with them for the night devotionals.      ...

Week 1: Home MTC

Image
Hello everyone! My first week as a missionary is finished. Everyday this week has been 8 hours of class over zoom but honestly it was not as bad as it sounds. Obviously it wasn’t amazing but it was not bad. I got to know my district and they are awesome. It’s so cool to see kids just like me making the decision to serve the Lord. We all have no clue what’s in store for us but we know who we are working for and that is Christ. My companion is Elder Danielson. Elder Danielson is a very interesting kid that knows how to cast spells in Spanish and was the valedictorian in high school. I love him. We are completely opposite but opposites attract so I think we will make a great team. My district got to know me very well when I forgot to mute my mic during a break… i went and got a drink of water and said hi to my mom then on the way back to my computer I was singing at the top of my lungs. I sat down and everyone was laughing then i hear someone say “Elder Hobbs you have ...
