Week 15: Latter Day Saints

Image
What up family and friends. A lot of miracles this week that I'm super excited to share. But first I wanna say how important the scriptures are in our day. We are literally in the last days. We are the latter day Saints. Satan has more power then ever before. But the great thing is, we have the armor to stand strong. Im not gonna lie i wasnt the best at reading the scriptures before my mission buttt I testify to all of you that if you read a little bit of the scriptures every day you will be able to withstand whatever temptation and storm satan throws your way. Ephesians 6:11-13         Lots of miracles this week here in Chile. To start we found a family that is superrrr inactive. The familia Norambuena. The parents were married in the temple and were super strong members then something happened in the church that shouldn't have happened. I don't really know the details but I do know they are angry at the church. Anyways they have 2 kids, Ashley w...

Week 14: Tumbes

Fam and friends! Hola a todos. Im currently writing this letter on a little bus with Chilean music blasting so vamos hahaha. I learned a lot this week. We had a lot of investigators that we have been teaching that are so great and such good people but weren't progressing. These families always invited us into their homes and loved talking to us and learning more about our church. But sadly weren't keeping commitments and we had a few drop lessons. This means you basically tell them if they aren't going to change or try to change then we gotta stop coming by. Anyways had a few of those this week which is sad but it's okay. We need to find the chosen and elect that are going to change and are looking for a change. But other than that this was a great week. I am starting to learn how to teach. I always thought I knew how to teach the gospel but out here its super different. You need to explain at a level that the people will understand. I'm always learning how to...

Week 13: First Baptism

Image
Fam and friends! Can't believe im already writing another one of these. I had my first baptism this week and wow what an experience. Really don't know how to put the experience into words. We started the day with cleaning and filling up the font which was very exciting but very slow. Also I had to put the program together which was fun but crazy. I was calling every person in the ward possible to give testimonies and give little talks for the baptism. Somehow every member in the ward was busy that day but finally I got two great members to give a talk. Also passed by the relief society presidents house and asked her to bring some snacks for after.       Maximo lives with his mom and his little sister. The rest of his family are all super catholic. We had a few lessons with Maximo when his uncles and aunts were at his house. They are not super fond of lds missionaries. Anyways a tender mercy that happend is that when I was waiting in the chr...

Week 12: Big Changes

Image
Hello everyone! Officially finished my first transfer in the field. So much has happened in the past week and I don't have much time to write this email but I'm gonna try my best to fill you all in. We had cambios this week. For a new missionary he has 2 cambios of training with his trainer. So I just finished my first cambio with my trainer elder workman. Me and Elder workman were super ready for our second cambio together to finish out my training but he got called as a zone leader in a different area. Soooo I received a new trainer named Elder Randall. He is from Arizona and I can tell we are gonna do a great job together. I'm staying in my area which means I'm basically the senior companion for awhile. Elder Randall knows nothing about my area or who anyone is so I've been completely leading the companionship. Feels like I'm the trainer at times haha. Super sad to see Elder workman go. He taught me how to work and to lose myself in the work. But I...

Week 11: The Streets

Image
Hola family and friends. Great week here in Chile. Lot of progress with our investigators. I learned a lot this week but one thing more than the rest... missionary work in the street. Before my mission I always pictured myself teaching a family in a house with no distractions, everyone listening, and maybe a nice fire going haha. Although this is sometimes the case the reality is teaching people in the streets with every distraction in the world. This week we worked a lot in the streets. This doesn't just mean asking someone if they want to learn more. We always try to teach a doctrine quick. Even on our way to an investigators house or an appointment we would always teach people in the street. I hated it because it was super hard to feel the spirit and usually the people only had a few minutes to talk. I felt like I couldn't make a connection with the person and it was just a waste of time. Then during one of my personal studies, I was studying the life of Je...
